As a photography student in 2007, I had the opportunity to visit Andreas Gursky's exhibition at the White Cube in London. His use of aerial perspectives captivated me, leading me to spend hours immersed in his work, uncovering the subtle narratives and intriguing details within each photograph.
Fast forward to 2017, a Spanish friend and I decided to book a long weekend getaway in Benidorm. We splurged on a penthouse apartment in one of the town's emerging areas. From this elevated vantage point, and another on a hillside to the north, I was able to capture the essence of Benidorm from above.
Away from the usual hustle and bustle of stag and hen parties and the noise of construction sites, I found a peaceful moment to photograph the town. It was in these serene heights that I felt a profound connection to Gursky's influence, seeking out the hidden stories and unique quirks of the scenes below.
